I was afraid this would happen

WBIR-TV Knoxville, TN

When Nichols didn't file charges against Shumaker, I was afraid that Shumaker would come back and want money. What a fucking asshole! Maybe it's time for Nichols to reconsider filing charges against him.

My office

While we lived in our small apartment, I dreamt of having a larger office and finally being able to get more work done. It was almost impossible to work on more than 1 project at a time. I found a house where I could devote a room to a larger office. I was in heaven thinking about how much easier it would be to get work done. Then there was THE MOVE. Not much in our household has function well since.

I'm finally putting some real effort into getting my home office into shape after said move. I set aside this weekend just for that purpose. Yesterday was spent just clearing off and rearranging the desk area. One of the problems I've had in the past has been trying to keep more office supplies within arm's reach than was really necessary. I also kept too many items on top of my desk and what was there was poorly arranged. Now, I have a large work area and the things I need are still close at hand.

Now, I just have to catch up on 3 months worth of filing.

Moving

I moved earlier this summer. I did not enjoy the experience. As a matter of fact, I believe that moving should be a punishment in our criminal judicial system.

We moved from an apartment into a rather large house. That's the nice part. The not so nice part has been trying to find people who can fix things around the house. It's just the anxiety of hiring someone and hoping the problem doesn't become worse. So far, so good.

I hired a painter for my son's room. He did a beautiful job. I had done all the painting at my previous house but hadn't done any in the 7 years of apartment life. When he gave me the estimate for the job, it was a bad case of sticker shock. But I wanted the room painted before my son returned from a trip and I just didn't have the time. Now I'm trying to find excuses for not being able to paint the rest of the house myself so that I can have him back over.

I've also had to hire people to deal with the yard. Only the front is lawn and has to be mowed. The back yard is wooded and that has me more concerned right now. There are a few dead trees that need to be taken down plus a few that are growing over the house and need to be trimmed back so the house won't be damaged in a storm.

The lastest area I have lucked out in was having my dryer vent redone. The dryer was vented into the garage. That was not a good thing. In addition to causing high humidity in the house, it was so clogged, it was a fire waiting to happen. Now it's vented to the outside and instead of vinyl hose, it's straight galvanized pipe. Clothes sure dry faster.

I guess so far I've done well. Now I just have to find a plumber and an electrican. I hope I can maintain my batting average.

Newbie

This is my first attempt at blogging. I've found blogs and bloggers to be very interesting people and I've learned a lot from them. I hope that I'm a positive addition to the blogging world.
