It was quite the day in Nashville
I was doing my mid-morning check of the blogs when I can across this. I was surprised at first and then started to wonder why it has taken so long. If you're not from Tennessee or been under a rock all day, here' s few links to get you up to speed.
Here's Stacey Campfield's blog. He was one of the first to report that something was going on and he's also my state rep.
Here's Bill Hobbs blog. He was all over the story, all day.
Four current legislators have been arrested, along with a former legislator. Charles Love, a Hamilton County school board member has also been arrested. He's a lobbyist and according to the official state lobbyist list, his only client is his own lobbying firm. That should raise eyebrows alone. Apparently, he's the guy that suggested the bill to Ford. They have said that there is one more person to be arrested. I had heard the name Barry Meyers earlier in the day but nothing recent.
I'm starting to wonder how many other bills that have become law got through because of this type of corruption. One that comes to mind is the bill to increase what businesses could charge for returned checks. Was Ford or any of the other involved with it? Is someone going to go over any of the bills Ford proposed to see if they were questionable? If they are, will they be reconsidered?
